Welcome to English 1

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at OBHS! As a freshman, you have a unique opportunity to make a fresh start this year. Make it a year full of discovery, hard work, growth, and fun, so that you have a strong foundation for the rest of your high school career.

Please contact me any time via email or Schoology messaging. I want to help you be successful. Keeping in close communication, whether online or in person, is the best way to make that happen.

I am looking forward to an amazing school year!

With Quistor Pride,

About the Teacher

Education
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, History, and Psychology from the University of Mississippi. Currently, I am working toward a Master's Degree in Secondary Education at Mississippi State University. I am highly qualified in MS to teach high school English and social studies, as well as special education.

Experience
This is my 4th year teaching 9th grade English at OBHS, and it is my 16th year with DeSoto County Schools. During my 16 years, I have held several positions in DeSoto County Schools, across multiple grade levels. Teaching high school English is truly my dream job. I love teaching here at OBHS!

Bio
Though I'm a native of Spring Hill, TN, I consider OB my home; I've lived in MS for over 20 years. My husband and I  have two college age sons, Drew and Eli. Drew is a senior at the University of Montevallo in Alablama, where he is majoring in Allied Health and runs for the men's cross country and track teams. Eli attends Northwest CC, where he is majoring in communications and plays football for the Rangers.  In my spare time, I love to cook and spend time with family.
