Welcome to Our Class!

Welcome to my class!  This is my first year here at Olive Branch High School, and I am looking forward to meeting as many students as possible.  I will be providing Reading assistance to English 9 students in Mrs. Ashley's class and Mrs. Milton's class, Reading assistance for English 10 in Mrs. Savage's class along with Mrs. Drummond's English 11 students, and assisting Mrs. Barkley with the Reading Horizons learning lab.  My planning period is 3rd block, so please reach out to me for any assistance that might be needed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

About the Teacher

Personal Info:

Hello!  This is my first year at Olive Branch High School, and I am very excited to be here.  This is my 25th year in education.  I spent 15 years in various middle schools in the Memphis City Schools System before coming to work at Center Hill High School for the past 9 years.  During that time, I taught College and Career Readiness, World History, American Government, and Economics along with serving as a school counselor for 3 years.  Here at Olive Branch, I will be serving as an Inclusion Teacher providing reading assistance primarily in the content areas of English and Social Studies.
I was born in Mississippi and have lived in Mississippi for the past 24 years.  My wife Mary Ellen and I have been married for 39 years and we have 3 adult children (Sam, Molly, and Ben) along with our 2 adorable dachshunds (June and Hazel).  We live in Hernando where we are members of Hernando Methodist Church.
I am an avid sports fan, and I have several favorite teams.  My college football loyalty lies with the Alabama Crimson Tide (Roll Tide!) while my pro football allegiance is with the Dallas Cowboys.  My college basketball commitment goes to The University of Memphis Tigers (my alma mater) while my pro basketball devotion goes to the Memphis Grizzlies (12-year season ticket holder). The St. Louis Cardinals enable my connection to Major League baseball.
I draw my greatest satisfaction in life from being a helper and providing assistance in whatever way is needed.  In my spare time, I enjoy reading and solving crossword puzzles.  Currently, I am reading "Where is Joe Merchant" by Jimmy Buffett (also my favorite musician).
